Before you enter a new consumer, you’ll need to verify that Marley White does not already exist in the system. Open the Patient File Maintenance icon using the highlighted icon. Tab to the Name field and enter the consumer’s last name. Then, press the Tab key to search. Edit
2
Notice the Patient Listing box pop up. You can see that Marley is not in the system yet. Press F9 to create a new record for him. Using the sample info below, complete the Facility field first, then Tab to the Name field and retype the consumer’s full name. The required format for name entry is: Last name, (space) First name Tab to see the Patient Listing box again. PROscript requires you to confirm that you're adding a new record for the consumer before you continue filling out other fields. Press F9 again to confirm. Edit
3
Continue to Tab through the fields to enter the consumer’s SS#, gender, and HIPAA privacy acknowledgement status using the sample info below. Keep in mind, once a field is completely filled, it will automatically advance to the next field for you. Edit
4
Next, you’ll enter information about Marley’s cycle. Marley wants Dispills and the timing for his prescriptions will line up with the Week 1 (wk1) cycle. Notice there aren’t any fields named “cycle.” For some instances in PROscript, we have re-purposed existing fields to handle the data we use. Enter the cycle format in the Room field, the cycle duration in the N/Station field, then Tab past the Bed field to continue. Edit
5
Many record details may be unavailable or unnecessary when creating a new record. In this case, just enter the information below in the order it appears. Be sure to type a comma between different allergies. You’ll notice PROscript requires a lot of tabbing! You'll get used to it and move more quickly once you get used to it. Edit
6
Marley lives with his uncle but doesn’t have reliable transportation and would like his medications mailed. You’ll need to select the delivery method that will route the medication through USPS. Click the appropriate field to view all delivery methods, then select the correct option. Edit
7
Since Marley will be receiving Dispills, we’ll need to make sure he signs the NCRC Waiver and document that in his profile. We use the Card ID field to record this: N for signed, or blank for not signed. In this case, Marley has signed the waiver, so click in the Card ID field and indicate that now. Keep in mind, this entry is case-sensitive. Edit
8
Click into the Address 1 field. Although these fields are preceded by the title Optional Patient/Shipping Information, these fields are actually required. Using the information below, fill out the relevant fields in the order shown on screen. Edit
9
Notice there are several Miscellaneous options in the top right of the screen. Boxes in this area can be checked to further distinguish details for a consumer. In this case, let’s assume there is another consumer with the name Harley White, which may be easily mistaken for our new consumer Marley White because they sound similar. When it comes to medication, any potential confusion between patients is a risk. Select the best miscellaneous option for this situation. Edit
10
You were right to select the Sound-alike / Look-alike option. Now every time an employee selects one of those consumers, a prompt will display to make sure they chose the right one. You’ve entered all the information you currently have for this record, but you still need to save your work. In PROscript, you’ll use the Update option to save. Use your hotkeys to try that now.
