1
Since you don’t have a refill number, start this refill by pulling up the patient’s profile through the Prescription Entry program. Open the program, choose the correct action type, and locate Terri’s profile by searching for her last name. Edit
2
You can see that Latuda is the only prescription on Terri’s profile, and your cursor has moved directly to the Action field. To start a refill, enter the appropriate action code letter. Next, enter the line number for the prescription you want to refill and submit your entry. Edit
3
Notice the Notes panel has popped up to warn you of any risks or issues you may have when processing a refill. It appears Terri is on a “soft hold,” which requires manager approval to bypass. Assume you have received approval and cancel the note. You’ll be moved to the Line To Change field, where you can submit the refill with a single key press. Edit
4
For training purposes, let’s assume the state you work in requires drug monographs for all medications, including refills. Follow the prompt and print it now so you don’t forget. Be sure your pharmacy printer for plain paper is appropriately selected and click the Print button. Then exit back to the prescription entry screen using your keyboard. Edit
5
Any time you submit a claim, it’s important to review the response from the insurance plan so you can identify any issues as soon as possible. Using your keyboard, clear the Action field, then enter a new action code to view the claim. Edit
6
Unfortunately, Terri’s Latuda refill has been rejected as Drug Not Covered. This prescription will be housed in the Batch Bill so it can be worked, hopefully to a paid claim, later on. To complete this task, exit back to the Rx Entry screen. Edit
